Located in the Kawauchi-Oimawashi district of Aoba-ward, Sendai City, Aobayama Park offers a serene escape nestled along the path to Sendai Castle. Within this park sits the Sendai Ryokusai-kan, a traditional Japanese-style building that opened its doors in July 2023.

The Ryokusai-kan’s Information Lounge showcases displays such as the festival floats of “Sendai Aoba Matsuri” and the decorative streamers (“Fukinagashi”) used in the “Sendai Tanabata Matsuri.” Visitors can also explore touch-screen panels featuring spotlights of the city and historical maps dating back to the Edo and Meiji periods.

Facilities within the Ryokusai-kan include a cafe, terrace, and the enchanting tea room “Zangetsu-tei,” designated as a cultural asset of Sendai City and intricately tied to Sendai Castle. It serves as a tranquil spot for both locals and tourists alike.

For recreational activities, the Ryokusai-kan offers hall rentals, traditional Japanese rooms, tea ceremony experiences, and barbecue facilities, catering to the leisurely needs of visitors.
