TsutsujigaokaTenmangu(榴岡天満宮), located in Sendai City, is a Shinto shrine cherished by the locals as a famous cherry blossom spot. Situated near Tsutsujigaoka Park, the shrine’s grounds are adorned with ancient plum, white oak, and weeping cherry trees, creating a serene atmosphere despite its urban setting.

The vermilion-painted Karmon gate reflects the Zen Buddhist style from the mid-Edo period and is registered as a cultural asset of Sendai City.

The shrine is also believed to grant blessings for fertility, protection from misfortune, physical health, good fortune, financial prosperity, and fulfillment of wishes.

Within the precincts stands a stone statue known as the “Nadeushi” or “stroking cow,” believed to bestow divine blessings when touched.

Visitors can also enjoy various types of omikuji, or fortune-telling strips, with the “Knot Fortune Omikuji” being particularly popular, offering over 20 different fortunes.
